The Psalms are unique in the Bible in that while we believe the are God's Word to us, they are also our words to God. In them we find expression for our pain and our joy as we reflect on God's character.
Acts tells the story of the mission of the apostles, and in it we hear the Gospel they preached, we the Spirit at work through them and we see the boldness they have because of the resurrection of Jesus.
For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 1 Corinthians 1:18
Matthew tells us that Jesus birth was a fulfilment of Isaiah’s prophecy: “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel.” At Christmas we celebrate the birth of our saviour, the coming of the messiah, and the revelation of “God with Us”.

The book of Revelation is one of the most puzzling books of the Bible. Because of it's strange characteristics, weird imagery and use of numbers many find it confusing or even frightening. But Revelation was written for Christians who were being persecuted because of their faith, and it was written to encourage them to stand firm in the face of evil opposition. It can offer the church today exactly that same encouragement.
